"y 2 y" is a club for middle and high school
youth (grades 7,8, and 9-12). It is youth-led
and adult guided. The purpose of the club is
to keep youth focused on staying or getting
drug-free and making positive decisions when
faced with negative situations.
It is based on Y 2 Y International in
Columbus, Ohio. (www.y2yint.com)

As a drug-prevention program it
has four
components:
|
Information and Education
Many kids get lots of good information about alcohol, tobacco,
and other drugs through parents, classes, and drug prevention
programs like DARE and Reality Check.
“y 2 y” gives them a chance to
apply it by sharing it with other youth and having constant
access to the most up to date information available.
|
Personal Growth and Decision Making
Identifying and understanding negative influences such as peer
pressure and advertising; learning how to avoid these situations
and having the ability to say no. Getting and giving support to
others who need and want to do the same.
|
|
Environmental Change
Making a difference in your community by staying up to date
politically, networking with other groups with similar goals,
educating others , serving as role models, and demonstrating to
adults the need to provide youth with opportunities
for drug free fun.
|
