Welcome to the Niskayuna Central School District
50th anniversary celebration
Throughout the 2003-04 school year, various community-wide activities
were held to
celebrate the district's founding in July 1953. All coordinated by the 50th Anniversary
Committee -- a group of alumni, current and former staff and community -- everyone
was
invited to join the celebration. Scroll below for a full list of activities
that took place that were open to the entire community. For other anniversary information, choose one of the links at right.
Golf
Tournament
Thank you to everyone who participated in the August 18, 2003 tournament, a fun
day that raised about $5,800 for the 50th Anniversary Student
Scholarship. Eighty people golfed, and another 20 attended the barbecue luncheon.
Thank you!
50th Anniversary Historical Booklet
This 60-page booklet recounting the first 50 years of the district
is still available to the
community. With photographs and plenty of highlights from the district's history, this
booklet is intended to help preserve the district's past as it looks toward the future.
Booklets are available in every school, Niskayuna Town Hall and at the District Office.
(Call (518) 377-4666, Ext. 207 for more information). The committee is asking for a $1
donation per book, which will be used to help offset the cost of anniversary activities.
The booklet can also be downloaded here as a PDF
document. (PDF documents are viewable with Adobe Acrobat Reader, which can be
downloaded for free off the Adobe
Acrobat Web site.) Please note: this is a large document to download (3,803 KB).

Niska-Day
2004
The Niskayuna community celebrated the district's anniversary on May 22 at Niska-Day 2004.
The theme of the day was "Celebrate 50 years of educational excellence." Alumni
and retired teachers and staff marched in the parade, and floats carried the
"50th" theme. Highlights of the district's year-long celebration were also on
display. Happy Anniversary Niskayuna schools!
Benefit
Gala Concert: An Evening of Beethoven
Everyone was invited to the 50th Anniversary Benefit Gala Concert on
June 5, 2004, in celebration of the
district's anniversary and to benefit the 50th Anniversary
Student Scholarship Fund. The evening featured guest pianist Julie Jordan, alumni
vocal soloists and the Niskayuna High School Symphony Orchestra and Concert Chorale.
Besides being an impressive evening of music, the event raised more
than $10,000 for the scholarship fund. More details...
Memorabilia Collection
Various district artifacts have been collected and were on display earlier this school
year in the Nisk-Art Gallery. Those items are now being carefully stored so they will be
preserved for the future. Additional items are always welcome -- to donate an item, please
call Robert Winchester at (518) 382-2538.
Alumni Speaker Series
We are seeking alumni to speak with groups about their skills or accomplishments. Are you
a Niskayuna graduate willing to share your skills? Or is there a graduate you'd like to
suggest? Please call Joan Rockwell at (518) 377-2122.

2004 from 7-8 p.m. at Niskayuna High School's Little Theater.
