Voter Information

Annual school budget vote & board elections

On the third Tuesday of each May, residents from across New York State go to the polls to vote on the annual school district budget and to elect members of the Board of Education. The next budget vote will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the Niskayuna High School New Orchestra Room. Parking will be available in the lot to the right of the entry road to campus off of Balltown Road.

Who can Vote?

Voters must be 18 years old, United States citizens, and have resided in the district for at least 30 days prior to the vote. You do not need to be pre-registered to vote. 

Absentee Ballots

Applications for absentee ballots are available at the district office and will be issued upon request to residents who are unable to vote in person for reasons of illness or disability or will be out of town on the date of the vote.

To request an absentee ballot, please call the office of the District Clerk at (518) 377-4666, ext. 50712 or come to the District Office, 1239 Van Antwerp Road to request one in-person.

If you would like an absentee ballot mailed to you, your request must be received by the District Clerk's office by May 9. If you plan to pick up your ballot in-person, it must be requested by the day before the vote, May 15.

Completed absentee ballots that are being returned in-person will be accepted through May 15, and cannot be submitted on the day of the vote. Absentee ballots that are mailed back to the District Clerk must be received by 4 p.m. on the day of the vote, May 16.
