On Friday, October 17, 7th grade students traveled to Cooperstown, New York. They visited the Fenimore Art Museum to see the Eugene and Clare Thaw Collection of American Indian Art. This is a direct connection to the current study of American Indians of New York State in the 7th grade in the social studies curriculum. Students had a guided tour of the exhibit, held American indian artifacts, saw museum pieces from various cultures, toured the scenic grounds of the museum and entered a re-creation bark and long house. Students had a great time with these hands-on, experiential learning activities.
