For Rosendale's summer reading assignment, we ask each child to read and
enjoy books of their
choice over the summer months.
We hope your child will read many books, but request he/she selects at least two books to use as part of our school's bookmark activity, which involves having a student write a brief summary of the book, draw a picture and indicate whether they would recommend the book or not. Students are asked to bring their bookmarks back to school with them in September. Students will share their bookmarks with their new classmates and teacher.
A great way to spend a few hours on a summer day is to take a trip to the library and look through
some books together. Let your child select the books that he/she finds interesting and is able to read. You may also want to choose a few other books to read aloud and discuss with your child.
Mrs. Carboni has put together a list of engaging books, by reading level. It contains suggestions for books available in the Rosendale Library including picture books, books for emergent readers and also for independent readers at all levels.
We hope everyone has a wonderful, safe summer.
